Petri‐net‐based deadlock detection and recovery for control of interacting equipment in automated container terminals

چکیده

In automated container terminals (ACTs), quay cranes (QCs), guided vehicles (AGVs), and yard (AYCs) interact intensively to handle containers at seaside side. This work investigates interacting equipment in ACTs that employ AGVs with the capability of lifting a temporarily buffered transfer area front storage block. By establishing using Petri net model interaction system (EIS) for transportation, deadlock control problem is studied handling operations ACTs, where all QCs, AYCs, transport are considered as resources. Deadlock characterized maximal special circuits (MSCs) saturated state. After detection method through MSC enumeration developed, procedure proposed resolve situations an AYC involved corresponding circular waiting relations. modifying operation sequence can conflicts among concurrent processes so eliminate deadlocks. Examples presented illustrate effectiveness method, which also tested simulation study. Results show EIS recover from detected deadlocks involving AYCs ensure smooth jobs.

An Integrated Scheduling Problem of Container Handling Equipment in the Loading Operation at Automated Container Terminals

In automated container terminals, containers are transported between ships and storage yard by differen types of vehicles, for example, guided vehicle (AGV, yard crane (YC) and quay crane (QC). To improve the productivity of the automated container terminals, it is important to harmoniously synchronize operations of different types of container handling equipment. This paper examines the schedu...

Optimizing the Static and Dynamic Scheduling problem of Automated Guided Vehicles in Container Terminals

The Minimum Cost Flow (MCF) problem is a well-known problem in the area of network optimisation. To tackle this problem, Network Simplex Algorithm (NSA) is the fastest solution method. NSA has three extensions, namely Network Simplex plus Algorithm (NSA+), Dynamic Network Simplex Algorithm (DNSA) and Dynamic Network Simplex plus Algorithm (DNSA+). The objectives of the research reported in this...

A Fuzzy Genetic Algorithm for Scheduling of Handling / Storage Equipment in Automated Container Terminals

Integrated scheduling of handling/storage equipment in container terminals is an NP-hard problem which has been studied during past two decades consciously. Genetic algorithms (GAs) have been applied for this optimization problem in many researches. However, the GA is vulnerable to trap in a local optima (results in premature convergence). In this paper a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is designe...

A Simulation Model for Automated Container Terminals

In order to accommodate the growing intercontinental container transport, port facilities have to be up-scaled drastically. The challenge is to develop facilities that can handle a new generation of ships, the jumbo container vessels, with a capacity of 8,000 TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) or more. The total in-port time to serve these jumbos is set at 24 hours. This amounts to almost double...
